It's Super Sunday! Here is a photo of the 10x10 grid we filled up in class last week. Which ones will end up having the same coordinates as the ones' place values of the competitors in today's big game? 1st Quarter and 3rd Quarter matches will get 5 Skittles or a HW Pass! Halftime (end of 2nd Quarter) matches can choose 10 Skittles or 2 HW Passes!! Final score matches will get 25 Skittles or 2 HW Passes & book choice.

This has to be one of the oddest disaster stories I've ever heard. I have not read a book on it yet, but there are a couple ideas to add to a Reading List that can be found at another blog post which can be found here.
Welp, it looks like Google is shutting down G+. Bummer since it is probably the number one way I have been collecting and (barely) organizing resources for helping to teach in various content areas. Will have to see if I can use this website to start a replacement collection.
Here's a start with the famous Exploding Plants footage! Hope there are no YouTuber comments that show up.
Where were you when you first realized you needed Baby Shark? Looking back to just a handful of weeks ago, for me the answer would have been, "What is Baby Shark?" Sadly, there are kids younger than my newest pair of shoes that have know about Baby Shark longer than I have. For example...
This kid is absolutely adorable and a Baby Shark fan for sure. She has way better moves than me, too.
So, the reason this came up on whatever newsfeed I found it on was that I have liked so many stories about Baby Shark. Baby Shark is trending in my searches, and I feel a bit like a toddler trying to get Alexa to help me re-discover the magic time and time again. But the original song was not my original sin... to use a figure of speech. The first foray into the wonderful world of the Baby Shark was a story I saw about this amazing, epic skit. Prepare to be stunned & moved... "it gets me every time".
Take a moment after that.
There is so much more to the Baby Shark canon, which I have really enjoyed exploring. While any and all musical genres may offer covers of the song, or different versions, I looked out for one of my own fav. types. Here is one "metal version" that we had to turn down when we tried to rock out...
So, yeah... that one's noisy. Personally I like it. One last version I really liked is by Leo Moracchoioli. He is pretty good at turning any song into a metal tune. I wish I could play guitar like this guy -- r actually play guitar in any way! Perhaps Baby Shark will be the first song I learn. The last song for this post (below) actually has a video with a shark costume I may need to have for next Halloween.
-- edit/update -- I guess it is kinda lame not to have a link to the original song, so it is NOW the last video link in this post. Which is your favorite version? Comment open below.
New Comment -- This is awesome, too. The Discoveries never stop.
Which cover version have you seen? As a classic which has been published so many times over the 50+ years since it has won the Newbery Medal, there are so many interesting versions of the cover. These are just two.

The bracket results are almost complete. Our "predictions" for men's (randomly chosen, with weight toward seedings -- a feature of the ESPN contest that makes it quicker to fill in multiple brackets ;) and also for women's (many students chose their own winners for the path to Final Four) can be seen by clicking a button below.
The Daily Jaws, an Instagram feed/account for those who love the movie Jaws... maybe a little too much... often hits with some clever stuff. Want to remember this pic, but had trouble using <embed> with Wordpress. Hope it works here.
